About Us

The Huntington County Healing Partners (HCHP) is a joint initiative of the Huntington County Medical Society, Parkview Huntington Hospital, and Parkview Huntington Foundation. The program is administered by Parkview Huntington Foundation.

The seed of the Medical Society’s $1.4 million gift was planted more than a half-century ago with around $11,000 in unspent funds from a county-wide polio vaccination program.

That money became the principal for the Huntington County Medical Memorial Foundation, which was established with the broad mission to benefit medical services in Huntington County. 

Over the years, that foundation’s principal grew, and in the 1990s, the foundation’s assets came under the stewardship of the Huntington County Medical Society.

In 2020, the Medical Society established a permanently restricted endowment at Parkview Huntington Foundation. Interest income from that endowment, combined with an annual gift by Parkview Huntington Hospital from its Community Health Improvement funds, provides revenue for annual Huntington County Healing Partners grants.

Through the funding, HCHP is able to support collaborative efforts among community members and healthcare professionals to improve Huntington County’s major health concerns. Building a culture of health means creating a community that gives all individuals an equal opportunity to live the healthiest life they can, whatever their ethnic, geographic, racial, socioeconomic or physical circumstances may be. HCHP is dedicated to finding solutions to improve the health and well-being of Huntington County residents.

HCHP grants are awarded annually to organizations operating in Huntington County that have existing or potentially innovative programs or projects addressing social determinants of health – factors that, if not addressed, can increase rates of chronic disease while decreasing health and quality of life. The areas of concern are the results reported in the 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment conducted by Parkview Health every three years. The report identifies troublesome trends in social determinants among Huntington County residents and provides a guide to determine where resources will be most beneficial to Huntington County.
